Orient
2nd Gen. Bambino Ver. 2 Watch
An automatic dress watch with a domed crystal and Roman numerals. A solid entry point if someone wants a mechanical watch that looks grown-up.
$250
This is a 40.5mm automatic watch with a classic dress-watch look — domed mineral crystal, Roman numerals, brown leather strap. The movement is Orient's F6724, which means it winds itself when you wear it, but you can also wind it by hand if it's been sitting for a few days. The seconds hand stops when you pull the crown out, so you can set the time precisely.
It's thick enough (11.8mm) that it won't slide under every shirt cuff, but it's not chunky. The lug width is 21mm, which is uncommon — you'll need to look for 21mm straps specifically if you want to swap it out.
30m water resistance means splashes are fine, but don't swim in it. The crystal is mineral, not sapphire, so it'll scratch more easily than higher-end watches.
