Beautiful Self-Watering Wick System
A handmade aluminum or brass straw and cotton wick that draws water from a separate container into a plant's soil.
$25.99
This is a self-watering setup: you stick the straw in the soil, drop the cotton wick into a water container, and it wicks moisture up as the plant needs it. Handmade in Sweden from aluminum or brass, with a recycled cotton cord.
Useful if you have plants on a high shelf or ones that like staying consistently moist. The brand says you can use any container you already have for the water reservoir — you don't need to buy their glassware.
It does require some upkeep. You'll need to refill the water container, clean or replace the wick occasionally, and swap the water regularly so it doesn't get gross. And it's only good for plants that like staying damp — cacti and succulents won't be happy.
Why it works
- Makes watering easier for hard-to-reach pots or high shelves.
- You can reuse a glass or container you already own.
- Keeps moisture-loving plants consistently happy between waterings.
Who it's for
- Someone with a calathea or fern that always dries out too fast.
- A plant person with pots in awkward spots.
What to know
- Not good for cacti, succulents, or anything that likes to dry out.
- You'll need to wash or replace the wick over time.
- Some retailers include a glass reservoir; some don't. Check what's in the box.
