This is a 58 fl oz enamelware jug — enough for water or iced tea for a few people. It's 9¼ inches tall, so it also works as a vase if someone wants to use it that way.
You can put it in the oven up to 530°F or stick it in the freezer. Dishwasher safe, which makes it easy to hand off as a gift. Can't go in the microwave.
Enamel can chip if you drop it. If it does, you'll see the steel underneath. That's just how enamelware works.
